Writing submissions are closed
Our first issue is on the theme of Science and Magic! Whether you write high fantasy, sci-fi, magical realism or just want to shoehorn in a Feynman reference, we want it! We invite you to stick as closely to the theme as you wish, and welcome submissions which are only tangentially connected with the same warmth as those which take it more directly.
All contributors will be asked to read the other contributions in their issue and write a short essay (500-1000 words as a loose guideline) on one of their choosing. This can be a purely critical essay, or a creative-critical response, whichever the contributor prefers.
General Submissions Guidelines:
Only one submission per author.
We accept short stories, poetry, one act plays, short screenplays, short films, art and photography.
All submissions must consist of original, unpublished material.
There is no minimum or maximum word limit for prose, but we suggest 3000-6000 words as a guideline. Please format your prose with double-spacing.
Short films can be up to 10 minutes in length. Likewise, screenplays can be a maximum of 10 pages and must use standard screenplay format.
Poetry submissions can contain up to 5 poems, and short films may be accompanied by the corresponding screenplay. All other genres must contain only one complete piece.
We only accept submissions in English, Italian, French and Polish — please provide an English translation alongside it.
We do not accept submissions of incomplete pieces.
We do not accept anonymous submissions, but if you would like to be published under a pen name, please include that in your email, along with your contact details.
We do not accept any use of AI for submissions at this time.
Please email your submission to laudacialitmag(@)gmail.com.
Submissions are now closed. Submissions sent to us outside of the submission window which meet the guidelines for the current issue are welcome, but we can no longer guarantee to read or respond to them.
All submissions will be chosen according to the subjective tastes and whims of the editorial team. If your submission is not chosen for a particular issue, this merely means it wasn’t for us this time, and we strongly encourage you to submit new pieces to future issues of the magazine.
Art submissions are open!
We are seeking art and photography submissions on the theme of Science and Magic for our first issue. We invite you to be creative and explore whatever medium you wish. As long as it’s tangentially related to our theme, we want it!

One submission per artist.
Art and photography submissions should be in JPEG format.
Submissions can consist of up to 5 pieces, which can be a mixture of art and photography.
All submissions should consist of original, unpublished material.
